Sports bridge is a fascinating card game recognised as a mental sport. In 1999, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially recognised bridge as a sporting discipline, highlighting the intellectual challenge and strategic thinking of the game. Players communicate with their partner using special codes and conventions, signalling, for example, the number of cards in a given suit or the strength of their hand, without revealing the information to their opponents.
Last week, the 28th European Youth Team Championships (7-12 July) and the World Junior Open Championships (13-18 July) in sports bridge concluded at the GEM Tennis Hall in Wrocław.
During these prestigious tournaments, we hosted several national teams, including Poland, at our Gem Hotel and Recreation Complex.
It was a special time for us, which showed how well we are able to organise such events. Our accommodation, catering and event space were perfectly suited to the needs of the participants.
Such events show how the Gem Complex can play an important role in large events.
We offer full catering, the availability of sports facilities and a large grounds that provide a safe and comfortable stay for guests from different countries.
Participants in the tournaments had use of our conference rooms, where organisational and social meetings were held.
In the Orangery, the results of the tournaments could be followed live on two televisions.
A large tent was set up on our green areas, where the young players and their staff ate their meals.
The inside of the tent was beautifully arranged, and it was there that the decoration of the winners of the 8th World Youth Transnational Championships took place.
We are proud to have been able to host such an event and showcase our capabilities as the Gem Hotel and Recreation Complex.
We were the base for the International Championships, which also contributed to the promotion of Wrocław.
