The Tour de Pologne teams at Gem

This summer at the GEM Hotel has been packed with sporting events. Last weekend, the GEM hosted the teams competing in the 81st Tour de Pologne. The attractive location of the GEM Complex and the spacious parking for the teams are the main advantages appreciated by the cycling teams.

Two French cycling groups came to the hotel: the Equipe ARKEA – B&B Hôtels and Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team, as well as the Belgian Intermarché-Wanty and the Spanish Movistar Team. On 12 August the 81st Tour de Pologne started from under the Centennial Hall in Wrocław – the most important cycling race in Central and Eastern Europe, part of the UCI World Tour cycle – will begin at Hala Stulecia in Wrocław. The competition will last 7 days and will finish at Krakow’s Błonia Park, where the winners of individual classifications will be announced, including the ORLEN general classification, for which the yellow jersey will be awarded.

– “The 81st edition of the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour promises to be special as it will be one of our toughest races. We start with the mountain stages and return to Bukowina with its challenging climbs. It will be very interesting. Traditionally we finish in Krakow, which is as important for the Tour de Pologne as Paris is for the Tour de France. The entire finish of the event will take place here,” – Czesław Lang, General Director of the Tour de Pologne, described.

Last year, the competition for the yellow jersey lasted until the very end. The eventual winner was Slovenian Matej Mohorič of the Bahrain Victorious group, who was one second ahead of Portugal’s Joao Almeida of UAE Team Emirates. The route of the 81st Tour de Pologne guarantees an exciting race. After the start in Wrocław, the riders will head to Karpacz, where they will fight for their first stage victory, and then compete in an individual time trial. The race will pass through Duszniki-Zdrój, Prudnik, Katowice, Bukowina Tatrzańska, BUKOVINA Resort, Wieliczka and Krakow, exposing the beauty of Poland’s southern regions and their tourist attractions.
